Teacher Resources
As the Mt. Vernon Education Foundation reaches out within the community, the corporate field has opportunities to help the schools. This page is dedicated to Mt. Vernon Schools’ staff, to provide additional possible funding resources for staff to pursue.
eTapestry – Located off of Mt. Comfort Road north of I-70, eTapestry provides donor database software for not-for-profits and is owned by Blackbaud. (The MVEF currently uses eTapestry for our online donor database.) eTapestry offers a grant program through the eTapestry Foundation, called Blackbaud Indy Fund. Grants can range from $100-$1,000 and are awarded quarterly. Click here to go to their webpage. eTapestry is also unique that they occasionally will offer their staff to go into the community and work on a specific project, as a team building exercise for their staff (i.e. help build a fence, help clean-up a playground with new mulch, etc.) All materials are furnished by the requester. For additional information, please contact Maria Bond at 482-4110 or MVEF@MtVernonFoundation.org.
Hancock County Community Foundation (HCCF) – The Hancock County Community Foundation has several grant opportunities available, and some opportunities change each year. Please click here to link to their webpage grants section.
Duke Energy – Duke Energy has a Foundation that offers grants, primarily in the focus of science, math and technology (stem-science, not ipads or flip-cameras). This grant opportunity would only be applicable for the Mt. Comfort Elementary, since it is the only Mt. Vernon School that uses Duke Energy as a vendor. However, Duke Energy does have some great teaching resources available for class projects on their website; click here for the information. The grant opportunity for Mt. Comfort Elementary is available by clicking here
Geist Half Marathon - Geist Half Marathon, Inc. officials have launched the Health & Wellness Grant Program designed to fund healthy initiatives for 2011. School faculty and parent volunteers in Marion, Hancock, and Hamilton counties are encouraged to download the application here. They fund programs up to $2,000 and the following are examples of items they will fund: expenses not otherwise funded by the school, specialized training: fees and expenses, equipment, materials, supplies, healthy snacks and drinks for school-hosted programs. Deadline is December 1st. This grant opportunity is highly encouraged as the MVCSC participates in the Geist Half Marathon as a team, which qualifies us to receive grant funds. Please take advantage of this broadly-defined grant opportunity!
