Steve Williams Scholarship Fund

In honor of former Soccer Coach Steve Williams, a scholarship fund was set up to assist with college fees for one female soccer plater and one male soccer player. $500 will be awarded each to one female and one male Mt. Vernon High School soccer player.

Factors considered in choosing the applicant are student’s GPA, community service, and involvement in other MVHS activities. The scholarship is not based on athletic performance and family financial information will not be considered in awarding this scholarship. The check will be written directly to the student’s chosen educational institution.

To qualify for this scholarship, the applicant:

  • Must be a Senior at Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation
  • Must have played on the Mt. Vernon High School Soccer team for at least one full season.
  • Must be in good standing in the Mt. Vernon High School system.
  • Must be planning to attend an accredited secondary educational program such as a public or independent college or university or another technical/vocational school.

Please note:

  • The selection committee will not know the identity of any applicant until after the final selections have been made.
  • The selection is not based on the athletic performance of the applicant.
  • Financial need will not be considered in awarding this scholarship.
  • The $500 check must be written directly to the student’s chosen educational institution.

The scholarship funds must be requested before December 31st of the year awarded or the scholarship will be forfeited and the funds returned to The Steve Williams Scholarship Fund.

  • The Student application form must be completed by the applicant and emailed directly to the Mt. Vernon Education Foundation.
  • It is the responsibility of the applicant to email the Coach Evaluation Form to his/her coach. The coach will then email the evaluation form directly to the MVEF.
  • It is the applicant’s responsibility to email the Guidance Counselor Evaluation Form to his/her counselor for processing. The counselor is to email the evaluation form directly to the MVEF.
  • It is the responsibility of the applicant to seek out two letters of reference and request that the letter is mailed or emailed directly to the foundation from the person providing the reference.
